Welcoming Volks Rei-Tenshi

A little earlier this month, I purchased a Volks Rei-Tenshi from Dollyteria, kindly shared by a user in the big BJD Discord server. They’re very unique BJDs — if you can call them that! They do technically have ball joints, but they’re just jointed at the shoulders and the hips. You also can’t actually buy them. Normally, they have to be won in lotteries at Volks events! I was surprised to see one for sale, and especially for a pretty reasonable price (55,000円). You can read more about Rei-Tenshi on the Den of Angels Wiki.

Three Azone Picco Neemo Lil Fairy dolls inspecting a newly arrived package

My package inspection crew. You can tell this was shipped by DHL because of the mystery damage.

I know there’s been a lot of discourse right now around shipping dolls into the U.S. and running into issues with customs, but thankfully I had no issues with that. I purchased the doll on June 17, Dollyteria shipped it out on June 22, and it arrived on June 25. I did, of course, have issues after the package was in the U.S., because it was delivered by my arch nemesis, DHL. It’s truly inspiring that a company can be so consistently terrible.

Thankfully, the doll did eventually make it home!

Dollyteria included the original paperwork with the doll, including the welcome letter from Volks and the CoA. Volks CoAs do include the owner’s name, so I was a little curious about Dollyteria would hide that. I guess the answer was to just cut the name out.

ꉂ(˵˃ ᗜ ˂˵) That’s way too dramatic! Just use a Sharpie next time! The letter is a little bent because it was wrapped around the box, which was smaller than the letter, but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed by putting it underneath some heavy books.

Oh but you’re here to see dolls, not paperwork, right? Let’s get to it!

The Rei-Tenshi box has a nice faux-leather texture and gold foiling. The doll comes with two wigs, a little rose prop, bloomers, and shoes. The shoes are so interesting! They’re basically just molded lace with a sole. Let’s talk about her sizing and what wigs, shoes, and clothing fits Volks Rei-Tenshi.

Wigs: Her head size is around 3-4, so she’s definitely not impossible to buy wigs for. A lot of fashion dolls have similar size heads, and she’ll take the 1/6 size Pure Neemo wigs with no problem, too.

Clothing: The Volks Rei-Tenshi body fits Obitsu 11 and Nendoroid size clothing. It fits some of my Picco Neemo/Lil Fairy clothing, but not most, so I wouldn’t suggest that size. Picco Neemos have more defined bodies vs the chubby chibi style of Obitsu 11, Nendoroid, and Volks Rei-Tenshi, so fitted clothing especially won’t work. I wish I had some of the Azone Picco Neemo P clothing to try!

Shoes: Obitsu-11 size shoes will be just the tiniest bit loose, but this should be fixed with socks or a little bit of tissue paper stuffed in the toe area.

Her little sleeping face is toooooooo cuuuuute. ( •̯́ ^ •̯̀)♡

I couldn’t tell if the wings were magnetic or jointed from the Dollyteria photos. They are actually jointed and part of the doll, which is great, because the constant babysitting of magnetic parts is not fun at all (especially not for wings this tiny).

Here she is all dressed up! She’s wearing a Picco Neemo tank top, which is currently being stretched to its limits. (≧▽≦) I was a little worried about dressing her up since everything I read about Rei-Tenshi just kept mentioning how small they are, but honestly, they’re not too small if you’re already used to 1/12 size dolls! I plan to bring her to Resin Rose and pick up some cute outfits for her there. If you’d like to see a Volks Rei-Tenshi in person, just come find me!

I hope you enjoyed welcoming this adorable little angel home with me! ♡
