New York City Doll Convention Recap (Featuring PashaPasha Whispers Club)
As you probably know from all of the posts, we just wrapped up the second annual New York City Doll Convention this past weekend. It was my first time attending, and all I have to say is WOW! I can’t believe this is only a second year convention. It was huge! I didn’t get a VIP badge or into any of the panels or workshops I wanted to join, which normally I’d be sad about, but it’s actually kind of awesome to realize the hobby is really this huge now. ( ≧ᗜ≦) I need to set alarms for this stuff next year!
I’ve previously been to New York City twice, but both times were for work trips. This was my first time visiting just for fun, so I was actually arrived a few days before the convention. I had lots of fun with friends, ate so many delicious meals, and saw so much art. I even got to see one of my favorite operas! If you’re considering attending the convention next year, I seriously recommend adding an extra few days just to explore the city.
My hotel had a nice view, right? Your lore drop of the day is that I used to work at Hilton on the corporate side, and the big thing happening at the time was the Waldorf Astoria New York renovation, which had started the year before I joined the company…and finally wrapped up in 2025. It was exciting to actually be able to stay there after all of those years, soooo of course I had to take some photos of my dolls there.
Rivanone and Raspberry looking so cute in front of the view during the day. I believe the church in the background is St. Bart’s. They had some light shows going on in there at night!
I also brought my Momonita with me. It feels like the SATC theme should have been playing here. (≧▽≦)
On to the convention…
NYCDC featured a stunning 66 vendors from around the world. There were vendors I recognized and had previously shopped from in-person, vendors I recognized and had never had the chance to shop from in-person, and just totally new names. Seriously, this vendor room was next level!
It was super crowded throughout the convention, so I didn’t get to take a photo of a lot of tables (specifically those in the center aisles since it would block traffic), but here are a few! You had everyone from Angel Philia to Robert Tonner here, so there were all sorts of dolls, and lots of lovely accessories for them, too. If you want to see the vendor room in video form, check out this video from rook_sever on Instagram.
VIP pass holders got to enter an hour early, so I didn’t actually make it into the vendor room until 11AM. So many vendors had already sold out of so much stuff just in that first hour!! It was so awesome to see. It’s a little scary to spend all this money on not just making your merchandise but traveling, shipping everything to the event, and of course, things like table fees, business cards, and so on hoping you at the very least break even. It made me so happy to see so many tables either almost or totally sold out of merchandise. NYCDC attendees showed up ready to shop!!
I got super lucky, because the one thing I really wanted was a Jjororiart girl. I have one at home, but of course, she needed a sister. ♡ I made it just in time, because I got the very last doll left. Isn’t she cute?
These lovely ladies were being sold by Lanie on behalf of Jjororiart.
Doll events aren’t just all about shopping, though! We also have meet ups! I went to two on Day 1. The first one was the Doll Maker and Art Doll Enthusiasts meet.
So major surprise, there were two other Pitusas there! Momonita met her long lost sisters!! These three were so cute together.
We had so many different types of art dolls at the meet! I love how different everyone’s personal style was, too! We had not one, but two Leggory dolls at the meet, so naturally, we had to do this.
We’re really putting the art in art doll here.
The second meet was the way too cute Tinies meet. I don’t think anyone managed to get a photo of the full collection. Seriously, they just kept multiplying! Officially, this was the “Tinies 1/6” meet, but we definitely got smaller than 1/6 here!
I left a little early the first day since I had to head back to Manhattan from Brooklyn to attend the PashaPasha Whispers Club event.
I actually wasn’t sure what this event was going to be. It was all so mysterious! But I figured it’s dolls, it’s New York. It’s probably going to be good. It was beyond just good. This felt like an actual art event. There were so many beautiful dolls from PashaPasha, with the highlight being a self-reflection art piece Pasha had created around the theme of Alice in Wonderland. Words won’t do the event justice, so I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.
I was a VIP attendee at this event, which included a gift! What’s in the mysterious event’s mysterious gift bag?
Wow!!! A teeny tiny PashaPasha doll and some beautiful PashaPasha shoes! Too cool! The doll will be a fun little project. I have a few ideas in mind for how I’d like to style her~
The second day was a little shorter but still lots of fun. I was a little late since I slept in a little after staying up so late the night before, but I made it in time for the 1/4 meet!
I absolutely love how varied this scale is. The sofa prop was such a great idea! I didn’t realize it at first, but the two dolls standing next to mine were able to stand all on their own, no extra support needed! That’s some nice dolly engineering!
The highlight of the second day was definitely the raffle! There were SO many prizes. We started at 2:30, but I think the whole raffle took us all the way through the end of the convention. Apparently there were over 150 small prizes alone. Thank you to all of the generous sponsors!!
There were some photo sets at the con as well. I didn’t have the chance to take too many photos, but I did manage to take a photo of my very out of place girls at the doll-size City Hall Station. It looks like a rat has taken off with something from Raspberry’s purse. Hope that wasn’t important…
Now we have the classic tourists arguing in a subway station situation! (˵ ¬ᴗ¬˵)
Here’s my full haul! I was pretty well-behaved, mostly since I just came back from Japan last month, but I couldn’t just leave with nothing. 👼 In addition to the PashaPasha gift and my Jjororiart girl, I also bought some lovely clothing from Evie Mini Co. and a Biao garage kit from Rap1993 (which I totally regretted not buying at DollCon Dallas, so I’m super glad she had them here).
It was my first NYCDC, but I definitely will be back next year! Hopefully with a VIP pass next time! ( ≧ᗜ≦) Hope to see you all again at the 2027 convention!
Think they want a bite? ( •̀ - • )
